Every home has a different square footage, has different attic clearances and varied venting for cross ventilation. We will do all the measurements needed to select the appropriate fan for you.

Here are a couple of terms that may help you understand how come up with our figures:

Venting: In a cold climate, the primary purpose of ventilation is to maintain a cold roof temperature to avoid any moisture that moves from the conditioned living space to the attic. In a hot climate, the primary purpose of ventilation is to expel solar-heated hot air from the attic or roof to reduce the building’s cooling load and to relieve the strain on air-conditioning systems. To simplify this, you can only bring in as much as you can take out. This is important because air, like water, takes the path of least resistance. The air must go somewhere, and if there is not enough venting, the air will go back down the walls.

To ensure each occurrence is accounted for we do our inspection to see if there is adequate venting.

CFM (cubic feet per minute): The most common way to measure airflow. CFM determines how much cubic feet of air can be moved or exchanged each minute.

Energy Use: Varies with size of unit. Range is 260 Watts – 700 Watts on high speed.

Example: the largest unit (7.0) at its highest speed, running for 2 hours will cost: $0.192 per day; $5.00/month; $70/year. A tremendous savings compared to A/C.
